… I don’t even know if I should ask.
Something the matter?

… I’m pretty sure y’know the answer to that.
She tilted her head, happy he wasn’t going to push…yet. “So, Al, what’ve you been up to?”
“Well…” he glances upwards as he thinks of what to say- or, rather, what he’s willing to say- as if the answers would suddenly come to him from the heavens. He hums a little to fill the silence of his pause, while patting his hand rhythmically against the wall’s flat surface. “The usual, I guess… being a hero and all. I’ve been kinda busy with the elections and all too, but other than that… yeah.”

She laughed at his childishness. “That’s good to hear, I guess.” She smiled, “and things have been fine for me. Not ‘awesome’ but fine.”
His grin widens a little. “Well that’s good! I mean, it’s awesome to see you’re doing okay yourself…” Alfred shifts his body a bit, so that he’s facing her better. “So what’ve you been up to? Anything new?”
Still smiling softly, Sakura shrugged, “Not really. Just the normal.” She lied. Even if she loved Alfred’s excitement, she wouldn’t exactly tell him any secrets.
“Y’sure?” He asks, blinking a little before drawing back from the question. He shrugs nonchalantly and says, “If y’say so, I guess.”, before reclining against the wall. He was normally one to prod further, but Alfred doesn’t want to ruin the good mood of the meeting just yet.

… so I’m kinda bored now.
Awesome heroes shouldn’t be bored.
“…hello?” [she smiles]
Alfred blinks for a moment, Sakura’s company catching him by surprise. A wide smile grows upon his lips moments later, and he waves at her a bit. “…Sakura! Hey to you too!” He greets with a slight laugh.
Sakura’s smile brightens at his enthusiasm. “How are you, Al?” She couldn’t help but giggle slightly.
“Mm, alright…” he hums in response. “Some shit happen and all, but I’m doing pretty much okay. ‘Sides, nothing can really bring the hero down, anyway!” He raises his head towards her, then, tilting his head a bit towards the side. “‘Bout you? Things going awesome for you?”
Not a headcanon for strictly Ivan; it applies for all nations.
Nations (the “Them”) are nonhuman beings that simply appear human; they look human enough that they fool themselves that they are human, in fact. In theory, they act as such, appearing as nothing more than ordinary citizens to their respective people. So naturally, nations have a kind of “sixth sense” when it comes to identifying each other.
They are able to see and smell a difference that marks them individually; what is seen and smelt cannot be chosen, but is influenced by characteristics of their land. (Ex. A nation/island that has many beaches/harbors may smell of sea water.) The sight itself may radiate as a sort of “aura” for other beings to see, influenced directly on emotion.
Granted, only nations may see this aura in one another, but a single nation may see the aura of humans easily.
